ELE International would like to congratulate Nathan Ferguson for successfully completing a week of work experience within our Engineering Department.
Nathan began the week with a brief overview of ELE’s key products, providing him with a good understanding of the industry ELE is in and materials testing equipment in general. This was followed by a day in production, where he assisted in the assembly of the ADR Touch Head used on our compression machines using various hand-held tools.
He also gained a valuable insight into the engineering mechanics of our complete range of compression machines. Nathan was shown how the sturdy materials used to manufacture our machines provides the high quality required for successfully repeating tests to international standards.
The main challenge for Nathan’s work experience week was the mechanical design project assigned by our Engineering Manager, Richard Windsor. The task focused on using computer aided design to create a product concept which allowed Nathan to enhance his creative and problem-solving skills. The week ended with a professional presentation by Nathan which highlighted the excellent progress he had made in a short space of time.
Overall Nathan had a most productive week, providing him with valuable experience in the Materials Testing industry. It also gave him the opportunity to work with experienced professionals at ELE International, including Shuangkai Wu, Mechanical Design Engineer, together with Wayne Ruffle and Mark Mitchell, Calibration Technicians.
ELE hopes to continue progressing the future careers of potential engineers and would like to thank Nathan and all those involved in making this such a successful week.
